Meade dsc 2090 AT
Hi all,
A little birdie has told me i have one of these scopes coming this weekend as a belated birthday gift . I haven't heard of these so could anyone enlighten me of what they are like? All i'd be using it for is a grab n go scope as you all now i couldn't part with my baby, Skywatcher 130pm . If they really aren't any good i'll secretly sell it on and get a celestron slt that i was going to get (that keeps getting put on hold with one thing or another ). Thanks in advance Last edited by Astrogirl : October 10th, 2007 at 11:11 AM. |

Answered this myself. Let me explain
![]() I got it wrong to start with, it should have read Meade ds 2090 mak. After realizing this on another forum i belong to i changed it and within mins i got a reply that made me think!!! My mother loves internet shopping and has found ebay and this reply had said ' hope it's not from ebay and the dsc2090 AT-TC range as they are crap!' I have this really horrible feeling thats what she has bought, done a search and found this scope, £339.00. I KNOW she won't have spent this(trust me, she don't like me that much, lol) but found a couple of dsc 2090 AT-TC at £150(even thats a push!) Now trying to think of a way of saying NOOOOOOOOOO thank you in the nicest possible way ![]() BTW, the little birdie is going to get shot! Got to blame somebody so might as well be the hubby ![]() Last edited by Astrogirl : October 10th, 2007 at 11:11 AM. |

There's a difference between the Meade's AT-TC (refractor) and Maksutov-Cassegrain (reflector) scopes. Having not used either but having done a little bit of online research, it is fairly clear that the AT-TC is definitely a beginner scope...not a step up from your current kit to be sure. Now, the 2090 Mak looks like a much nicer setup. While still in the "starter" class of telescopes, the Maksutov-Cassegrain design should afford you pretty good solar system viewing. Plus, the scope is completely go-to so it will help you learn the sky even more quickly. Don't shoot the messenger just yet, I'd give the 2090 a try if it is in fact the Mak version.

Well it was the AT-TC one.
After alot of researching and doing alot of peoples heads in, i have decided on a Celestron nexstar 4 se, or 5 if money allows. Will have to save a little first(yep, i'm one of them that has to save!). The 4" is £325, 5" is £565 so big price difference. It ticks all the boxes i want and is easily transported. Will let you know when i get it. ![]() Celestron NexStar SE range |
