Meade refractor AR-6 AT

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but not new to astronomy. Currently, I own a 10" Dobsonian that John Dobson himself signed at a Grand Canyon Star Party.

Looking for information on the above scope. I would like to buy a refractor that can track objects in the night sky whether comets or the space station. Has anyone used or owned a Meade AR-6 AT? What are the pro's and con's?

Thanks,

Welcome to SpaceSpot! If capturing the ISS is something you're looking to do - the most important thing you'll want to look at is not the scope per se, but the mount. You'll want one that can track at speeds other than say lunar or sidereal. You'll also want one that is pretty solid. After you have figured out which mounts to look at (I would look at Losmandy Gemini and the Takahashi EM-11 or EM-200) then you can figure out what scope to get. For your targets, I would get something that you can really pump up the magnification with.

Mounts

What is the cost for a Losmandy mount? I remember them being pretty expensive.

Visit an online retailer such as Oceanside Photo and Telescope or Anacortes Wildbird and Telescope (Google them) and you can find all the prices you want on this stuff.
