New All Sky Camera View from LightBuckets
We are busy creating our online telescope rental business called LightBuckets (LightBuckets - we bring the biggest telescopes, best optics, highest-quality CCDs, and the darkest skies to you.). With LightBuckets you'll be able to image galaxies, nebula, globular clusters, and more on equipment that most astronomers, astrophotographers, and even some researchers can only dream about using. Our observatories are located in some of the darkest sky sites around the world and use the best of the best when it comes to telescopes, optics, mounts, and cameras. Even more amazing, you can do your imaging while sitting at your computer in real time. Or, you even have the option to schedule your imaging to run later (such as when your target is higher overhead for the best seeing).
We're making terrific progress with our web design and expect to be "live" around April 1st. In the meantime, I thought I'd share a view from our all sky camera. You'll be able to see the all sky camera on LightBuckets any time you wish, whether you're a customer or not. In the all sky image attached, what you're seeing is the disc of the Milky Way complete with dust lanes and all. This image is only a 1 minute exposure from our all sky camera...amazing detail for such a short duration shot. The image is updated approximately every 2 minutes on LightBuckets. Steve
