I have not used a Celestron scope with SkyAlign in the southern hemisphere but all of the Celestron literature says that it absolutely will work. It does sound like the object database might be limited in the southern hemisphere, just from some of the stuff I read online.

Hi there, I have an Celestron 4 SE and it does have the option in the handset for the southern hemisphere. According to the manual i have the object database has more than enough to keep you going for the southern skies.
