Greetings,

haha, decided to take on a new hobby this summer. I've always been interested in constellations so I thought I'd take it one level further.

I've been all over the internet and am coming across mixed reviews regarding good, beginner's telescopes. I see Meade, Celestron and Orion recommended everywhere, but at the same time crtiqiues as to how they aren't being made as good as they were before.

I'm im Mississauga, Canada (near Toronto for those of you who don't know). I guess my budget is $350 CDN. What do you recommend? Something that would allow me to see enough, keep busy for the summer and help further develop star-gazing as a hobby.

There's all sorts out there: Dobsonion, Reflector, Refractor. No idea where to start!

If you can stretch your budget just a little, I would go with the Orion XT6. You get a nice size aperture on a good dobsonian mount. This scope would give you many hours of exploring. If you can't stretch the budget, the choices you've shown are both good. The Meade will automatically locate and track objects so I would have to give the nod to it, even though it has a smaller aperture. It's always best to learn the sky first rather than just catch aperture fever...which you'll have plenty of time to deal with as you learn more.
