Sirius...WOW

Not a question, just something to share:

So with where I live having a big mountain range and a city on my eastern horizon, I found that I would have to be up pretty late to see Saturn, so I've pushed that off to this weekend.

I'm finally getting the hang of finding stuff with the spotter scope and was able to do some very basic star hoping, when I came across what I've since found out to be Sirius. Holy cow! It's brightness was the first thing I noticed, but as I followed it through the sky for the next 30 minutes, I was just awestruck at all the extra little detail I could make out on it. At first I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me and kept giving my eyes a break then looking at it again to see. I was humbled by how beautiful it is. I was thinking planets and nebula and galaxies would be the awe inspiring stuff, but I never expected that looking at a star could be such a moving experience.

So for any fellow newbies out there, if you haven't seen Sirius yet, check it out!

Cosmic Charlie
