A.S.I.G.N. Movie on U-Tube
I thought I would give it a go. It took some time, but it was a good experiment. What do you think?

Very nice Barry, especially the images at the end. You make it look sooo easy.
Already barked the orders at hubby...."Want one, want one now!!!" (on top of the new webcam, another scope, crayford focuser and a filter set) This is one expensive hobby.......... |

Thanks Kara, Now go grab your hammer and nails and get cracking! You can do it! A year goes by really uickly when you start a project like this. You will have your observatory before you know it! Just start! Dig a hole and mix a bag of cement or something. Just start!
My two cents... Baz.

Wow Barry...just watched the video. Congratulations on what must have been a long and agonizing project...but with a terrific reward at the end. How are the skies in Canberra? I've been to Sydney and Melbourne on business but I'd like to bring my wife down under for a nice extended holiday sometime in the next few years.

WOW! I really cant believe how it turned out. I thought maybe a plastic dome would have been the outcome, but it just exploded into a mathematical and physical challenge. Since you first started creating the dome I was asking myself how the heck you were going to get it up there, (ITS HUGE!!!!) but then I noticed the bulldozer in one of the frames, it answered my question ;). So great, i really think i should attempt something of that magnitude, but I really dont have the time, nor the intelligence (im 16 for crying out loud!!!!!!) so, i'll keep that in mind for my future. Thanks for that great motivational video!!
EDIT: OH!, and the song was amazing!!!! what was its name!?

The "Bulldozer" is actually my father's backhoe. That type of vehicle is very common in the building industry and a lot cheaper to hire than a crane. If you have everything set up perfect and ready for them when they get there, you will not be paying for hours of their time. The song is called Satellite by BT and its off the 2002 chillout annual album. God bless mate and thanks for the kind words. Baz.

Take two! The most AMAZING slide show ever!!
Well, I have to say that, I'm biased...
This is take-two of the observatory building and astrophotography. I used only one transition this time to avoid distraction as has been suggested. There have been a few changes, (getting rid of the old card as it was made from images that weren't mine.) and great improvements to imagery since I first posted this, so I re-shot it with some of my latest astro images and uploaded it again. Enjoy! Baz ASIGN Video Presentation
