For this contest, we are giving away a free copy of TheSky 6 Professional Edition (a US$279.00 value) to one lucky member. All you need to do is join SpaceSpot and do at least 5 quality forum posts between July 1st, 2007 and July 31st, 2007. On August 1st, 2007 we'll draw a winner from our "virtual hat" and notify them via Private Message here on SpaceSpot. That's all there is too it...you post...we give out prizes...seems like a pretty good deal. We're looking forward to seeing some good stuff from you guys...and gals...so get to posting!
~The SpaceSpot Team P.S. We'll be watching and we'll exclude posts that we think are trying to get around the quality part of the eligibility rules ...make those posts good so they count!

We're getting ready to partner with one of our sister companies, the company is called LightBuckets (www.lightbuckets.com.), to offer free online telescope time to research-grade telescopes around the world. Basically, you log on to LightBuckets, pick the telescope you want to use, pick the object you want to image, and LightBuckets delivers a file to you when it's done. All through the power of the web.
LightBuckets currently has a 24" Ritchey-Chretien scope in New Mexico and a 14.5" Ritchey-Chretien scope in Australia so you can image both the northern and southern hemisphere. These are telescopes that you generally won't find in the typical or even most high-end amateur observatories due to the costs of the hardware (over $400,000), the location (the best dark sky sites in North America and Australia), and the maintenance/upkeep expenses. There are more scopes on the way too! LightBuckets is in the final stages of web design and system integration. Once the scopes are up and running, we'll start offering time to members as a thank-you for posting here at SpaceSpot. This is some valuable stuff too...the scopes rent for anywhere from $150-$250 per hour. Stay tuned for updates here at SpaceSpot! Steve

Yep, sure would be. Basically, we will hold monthly drawings for free telescope time. The more you post, the better your chances of winning will be. Stay tuned for more!

Im good but Thanks anyway i dont think many will compete for that type of prize but i could be wrong. I think something more personal like an individual prize would be better like example a telescope, sky software, etc but its your call you are the boss. Maybe a poll to find out?

Really? As someone interested in astronomy what could be better than having a chance to image with world-class telescopes located around the globe? These are scopes most folks would never be able to have in their backyard. I'd certainly like to hear more from our members about their interest in this.
